Tonight we held our next bariatric surgery support group meeting, our second in our Campbelltown rooms, and once again we had a fantastic turnout.
The topic for the evening was Optimising Your Bariatric Journey Through Exercise, which generated a lot of interest and discussion.
Guest speaker
We were pleased to welcome Ashley Hropic from Southwest Wellness Centre as our guest speaker. Ashley shared a great deal of helpful information, including:
- Why exercise matters before and after surgery.
- Common concerns people have about exercising.
- What exercise can actually look like in real life.
- How to get started at home.
- Warm-up techniques.
- Strength exercises.
- Cardio options.
- An example weekly plan.
- Progression.
- Red flags to be aware of.
Group participation
Everyone joined in for the warm-up and strength exercises, which was a great way to learn some simple movements that anyone can begin with at home.
